I use this mic preamp on every session, frequently as a means of tailoring a snare close mic or on vocals. The compressor is a little on the transparent side; the EQ section gives one incredible control on shaping sound. The Pre/Post switch in the EQ section allows one to send the EQ'd signal to the compressor, or vice versa, which is a nice bonus. The instrument input is a great DI for bass, which I frequently mix in with a mic'd Ampeg B-15 for a full bass tone.

These units are made by Mercenary Audio - read more about about this unit.
